HISTORY OF EMPIRE FENCE
Empire Fence founder John Blauvelt began working for his brother’s fence company in Glendale, AZ in 1975. In 1984 John and his brother opened up a second location in the East Valley which would become the foundation for our successful organization today. Both businesses at that time focused on residential fencing for individual homeowners and light commercial jobs. In the early 1990s John began to move the East Valley operation more towards heavy commercial fencing by bidding more and more work to general contractors. No longer just a local business, the East Valley company became Empire Fence in 1999. Shortly there after, we were awarded the largest single contract we had ever secured at that time. The contract was for CCA Prisons in Florence, AZ, a private correctional facility. We installed nearly $700,000 worth of high security chain link for the entire prison.
Although we had always fabricated our own chain link gates along with some miscellaneous fence components, until 2001 we had always purchased our Ornamental Iron fencing from other fabricators. Due to production and shipping delays, relying on outside fabricators too frequently made it difficult to keep projects on schedule for our customers. In July of 2001 the decision was made to fabricate all of our Ornamental Iron in our own manufacturing facility. We moved the company to a much needed larger facility, triple the size of our previous location. Today, we operate in a 12,000 square foot, climate controlled manufacturing facility situated on 2 acres of illuminated, paved and secured yard. Our state of the art shop is complete with Hyd-Mech V18 bandsaw, which allows us full bundle cutting capabilities, 5 and 8 ton Scotchman hydraulic press, punch and shear, Blowtherm paint and preparation booths, and ITW Ransburg electrostatic paint guns. These fabrication capabilities along with our fleet of 12 installation trucks, 3 Bobcats and Installink chain link dispenser, allow us to meet our customer’s needs in a more timely and cost effective manner.
Some of our biggest customers are General Contractors who build large retail stores. We now build garden center fencing for major retailers including Wal-Mart super centers, Lowes, Target, and Home Depot. We have developed good business relationships with most all of the GCs involved and in turn are invited to bid these projects with them. Other major projects that we provide Chain Link and Ornamental Iron fence for include school campuses, power plants, sewage lift stations, parks, and sports field complexes.
We have evolved into one of the premier custom fence and gate providers in the state. We still provide residential fencing both on a large scale for Housing Contactors and for individual Homeowners. Our design team can take your ideas and requirements and turn them into the perfect, most cost effective fence and gates to meet your needs.
